No Bugs in the teeth

I believe in the importance of wearing a helmet while riding a motorcycle. I'm reminded of it everytime I have to clean off the bugs from the face shield! No bugs in my teeth unless I put them there!!

The New Dollar Coins - Hoax about "IN GOD WE TRUST"

OK, friends and other readers. I JUST got another email from a concerned friend saying "DO NOT ACCEPT THE NEW DOLLAR COINS AS CHANGE!” This and other hoaxes have been spread on the internet and email since both were created!
They make very concerned people and often Christians look like fools. I guess the hoax-spreaders hope that if Christians look like fools, their beliefs would look foolish!

So, please help stop this hoax madness! When you get an email, research it before spreading it on! For this one it is VERY easy to verify. Just go to a bank and hand the teller a dollar and ask for a dollar coin! LOOK AT IT! Look at the edge. If you still don't want the coin, you can hand it back and get a paper dollar. BUT you will see that "IN GOD WE TRUST" has only been moved to the edge. (Granted someone could shave the edge, but that is technically a Federal offense.) I went to a coin vending machine and put in a $5 paper bill and got 5 coins ... yup, EVERY ONE had "IN GOD WE TRUST" on them!

I have included a couple photos I have found, but don’t take my word for it. CHECK IT OUT!! If you get this hoax email, immediately reply to the sender and all receivers about it being a hoax. (The email to me had the subject: "The Switch has Begun!! IMPORTANT-PLEASE READ")

If I could find the originator of this email, I think I would slap them!

Floods of 2008

For those who have been wondering. We have had very little impact by the area flooding. Unlike the thousands who have. Our only impact has been that Emily and Jake were not able to come home for Fathers Day and we can only travel north and northeast!
Please pray for those who have lost so much.
Here is a site that was sent to me showing the roads that have been flooded.

Help! I joined facebook

Wow, what a world. Seems like everyone is facebooking or myspacing! (Did i just verbize those?) I thot I would join. Now I need even more help! First thing I gotta get is a picture that somewhat looks like me, but doesn't scare people!
Any advice will be appreciated!

The boy has graduated!

Ding-dong high-school is done – for our son Derek! The party was great except we didn’t have food left over at the end! I hope everyone got enough to eat. Last time (for Emily) we ordered too much and this time not quite enough so maybe we’ll get it just right for baby bear Dalend! (If he reads that he will punch me!)

The yard and house were all in order and the weather was great! Not too hot and not rainy – thank you, God. I recommend having a graduation party at your house if you want to get things done! Man, I did more in the few weeks be for Memorial Day weekend than I’ve done in the year before! I also don’t recommend having a party at your place because it causes a lot of headaches, heated discussions and lost sleep. So how is THAT for being wishy-washy!

Either way we are proud of Derek for making it through without getting arrested or blowing anything or himself up. I think he has made a good impact on others around him and I think he has matured a bunch in the last few years. He will be at Spring Valley Bible Camp as a counselor this summer and then will be jumping into college at ISU this fall like he jumped into Muscatine High School 4 years ago. I remember how he was excited about going to high school – no fear, no worries.

If you would like, look him up and drop him a line. (Find him in facebook: http://www.facebook.com/srch.php?nm=Derek+Pearson) Pray that he is able to enjoy college WHILE STILL getting the studies and learning done! He is planning at this point to major in Kinesiology. He is not exactly sure what job he wants with that, but most that he sees are what he would love to do! When I tell people what his major is, if they give me a blank look, I tell them it is the study of moving objects with your mind. (THAT of course is actually telekinesis, which only sounds a bit like kinesiology!) 8-)

Wow, what happened to Big Idea and Phil Vischer?

Veggie Tales has always been one of my favorites! Especially since my wife had a chance to interview Phil, back before Jonah came out, because of his roots in Muscatine. He lived here until he was in 9th grade. (I will get the article and post if you ask for it.)

Well, since my kids have grown out of the main focus of the videos, we have not kept up on the Tales. I just found out that they have been through bankruptcy and SO much more! There have been some major changes in the life of Big Ideas and Phil Vischer. I don’t want to reproduce the story, but you can get it straight from Phil at: http://www.philvischer.com/?p=38. I have only skimmed most of it, but plan to read it all. What I’ve read is incredible!

I also just got a notice from Focus on the Family that they have “VeggieTales: Moe and the Big Exit” available at: http://resources.family.org/product/entertainment (search for "veggie"). I don’t know who will get the money for this and there haven’t been any reviews on it. If you get it, let me know what you think of it and what names are on the box. Or if I decide to get it, I’ll post something.

Something you don't normally see in Muscatine

After seeing this at a body shop for a couple weeks, I had to stop and ask. It's a 6 wheel drive amphibious troop carrier. It uses gasoline. It's for sale. If any rich relative would like to give me $50K, I would buy this in a minute. Who wouldn't love to drive into a river, float to the other side and drive out!!
I need to get my kid to stand next to this to show the proportion, but it is just a bit smaller than a UPS truck.

NiteTime Ride

And this is the nite version! The picture does not due this full justice. The graphics really glow bright. I still need to add a small one to the front wheel cover. I also have wheel rim glow to apply and then it will be a lot more visible at night. -- On a motorcycle, it's ALL about being seen!!

Daily Fun

Now this is my day ride (before the grapics). It makes the daily 10 minute commute to work each day a blast! Yeah, I don' t have a long commute. I like that! This also is a blast to buzz around town with my wife on the back. We get the looks. (or is it the bike?)

Weekend Fun

Now this looks like some weekend Fun! I have driven a couple of these monsters, although I've never driven in water. But I would love to wet my pants this way!!
